1) Bloodborne was already a collaboration
2) If any studio outside of From know From Software games, it's Bluepoint
3) Other beloved franchises have successfully changed developers
Yeah, I'm gonna say it: I'm as big a fan of From Software, the Souls Series and Miyazaki as the next one, but y'all need to stop dancing around the golden calf and realize that the games aren't perfect and it's not like no one else could ever pull off something that's comparable.
Demon's Souls was a lucky accident: The game was considered a failure in development and no one cared when Miyazaki started to experiment with the game. And even when it was finished, no one cared for it. It was an obscure little game that just barely made it into the west.
If you read just a couple of pages of Berserk, you'll realize that Dark Souls is less "inspired" by the manga but more or less brazenly and outright stole a lot of the iconic imagery (Same goes for Elden Ring btw). Also, consensus among Fans is that a lot of the later areas are rushed and unfinished - I'm actually among the few who like Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith. And I don't need to remind you about 15FPS Blighttown, right?
And Bloodborne, as much as I love that game and as many hours as I've put into it, wasn't even finished when it came out. You'll see the fragments of hastily cut content everywhere, from stats that do barely anything to suddenly getting teleported somewhere mid-game and a single text box informing you of what's going on, like there's missing a big chunk of the game or at least a cutscene.
On top of that, their engine is notoriously convoluted. That's why it's so hard to make something simple like a 60FPS patch and why the original Dark Souls PC Port was so lackluster.
All of this is common knowledge among fans. So, as much as we all love the games regardless of all of this: Let's just view them realistically. There's no need to exaggerat them, they're amazing games despite all their flaws. But accepting them as the flawed gems they are also means it's not impossible that another studio might be able to deliver a fitting successor.
So let's wait and see. We don't know the details, maybe it's a collaboration again, with From Software helping and controlling creatively. Wether or not this is the case, I'm sure Bluepoint can pull this off. They know what they're doing and they know the games and the tech like no one else besides From Software does.
Kurzform: Bin gespannt drauf und ich bin zuversichtlich, dass das gut werden kann.
